BM CHAN BODY CONTOURING FAQQ: What is a body wrap?
A: The body wrapping process involves wrapping the body with elastic bandages that have been soaked in a special solution. Q: How much weight and inches will I lose? A: The body wrap was designed to take off inches rather than pounds. Although everyone loses inches in the process, the weight loss will be negligible. We do not know what you will lose because we do not know what percentage of your body is soft fat. Q: What is meant by “Total Inch Loss”? A: Before you are wrapped, we take measurements of various parts of the body (upper arm, midriff, waist, hips, thighs) and record them on your personal record card. After you are unwrapped, these areas are remeasured and the amount of loss in each area is also recorded. These losses are added together to determine your “Total Inch Loss.” Q: Do lost inches return? A: No. In our experience, lost inches do not come back as long as you maintain your present weight or lose weight. We have found that clients actually have to gain weight to notice lost inches returning. Q: How does it work? A: The body wrap works by shrinking the adipose tissues of fat, called cellulite, which is found directly below the surface of the skin. This is done by using the body’s own heat supply coupled with cellulite inhibitors to create a combination that shows more than appreciable results after the very first wrap. The solution increases the enzyme activity while the wraps compensate for the insufficient flow of nutrients resulting in the release of toxins and wastes in the cells and disposal of those wastes through normal body functions. The wrap is applied tightly to areas requiring inch loss, and lightly to areas where only skin-tightening is desired. It is perfectly safe, healthy, and very relaxing. Q: What makes up the wrap solution? A: The solution formula itself is secret, although we can tell you that it is a mildly buffered, pH controlled isotonic solution. It contains a combination of minerals, vitamins and aloe gel, which aid in actually rejuvenating the body’s mineral supply both during and after the wrap. Q: How long does the wrap take? A: One session takes a minimum of 1 ½ hours, though you are actually in the wrap for only one hour. While wrapped, you are free to read, study, sleep, visit others in the centre or exercise, which improves results. The remaining 30 minutes are for weighing, measuring, undressing and redressing. If you like, however, you can choose to leave the wrap on for longer than an hour, as this allows the solution to penetrate more and results will be better. Q: How often can I be wrapped? A: You should wait at least 72 hours between wraps, since the solution continues to work even 72 hours later. If you have weight to lose, we recommend a body wrap once or twice a week so that you have time to lose inches between sessions. The advantage of this approach is that you will lose most of the inches in the problem spots where you were wrapped the tightest. Also, this frequency helps keep the skin tight as your inches continue to decrease. Q: How many visits will I need? A: That depends on several things, such as how many inches you wish to lose, the number of inches lost per wrap, how loose your skin is, how committed you are to the weight loss program, etc. Usually, we will wrap you once or twice a week until you have reached your goal. Generally speaking, however, most people need approximately 8 to 12 visits. Q: What do I need to wear while being wrapped? A: The body wrap is applied over panties and bra (which will get wet during the treatment so always make sure you bring an extra pair to wear home!) Men are asked to wear swimming trunks. After you are wrapped, you can wear a sauna suit and open-toe slippers to walk around in, if you wish. Q: Is the body wrap harmful? A: No. The treatments have been proven perfectly safe and non-allergenic. However, if you have a serious medical problem we recommend that you first consult your physician for your own peace of mind. Q: Who can have the body wrap done? A: We will not wrap pregnant women, clients who have recently had surgery and have unhealed incisions, or clients with large skin abrasions or rashes, for obvious reasons. Other than these, anybody can do the body wrap. We have not found any condition that the body wrap aggravates or hurts. Many of our clients have heart problems, diabetes, kidney or liver problems, varicose veins or asthma and they do not react negatively to treatments. In fact, the body wrap will reduce the puffiness and discomfort associated with menstruation. Q: How much fluid should I drink? A: Your body has a continuing need for fluids and liquid will not put lost inches back on. We recommend 8 to 12 glasses of our Combo Herbal Tea per day. After drinking this tea, you will start to lose pounds. The tea will also enable the body to break down and flush out impurities through natural elimination. Q: What do I do after the body wrap? A: You simply go on with your day’s activities. However, if you leave the solution on your skin for 6 to 8 hours after the body wrap session, there will be additional minor inch loss and skin tightening. You will not necessarily need a shower after the session, since you will already feel very clean. Q: What will the body wrap do to my skin? A: Our clients tell us that their skin is smoother and tighter after the wrap. We have many clients who do not need to lose weight but still need skin tightening, because of weight loss or because their skin has become saggy over the years. A body wrap will also reduce the size and colour of stretch marks. |
